“Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow.” (Alice M.Swaim)

Today I was inspired by the first snowfall of winter.

As it's turning cold, busy, and I can't just jump in my little fiat 500 any more, I'm not having much chance to get out and about and sketch plein air.

So I've started drawing more from my imagination... It's amazing what you can find in there when you put a pencil to paper and just draw what comes to mind!

"...We'll welcome December with tireless hope." (from 'Snow', Sleeping At Last).

Have you ever tried to sketch without taking your pen off the paper? This took ten minutes of concenrated effort, especially trying to remember the song lyrics, for the first verse of 'Snow' by Sleeping At Last, which I illustrated around the edge. This is my imagination's interpretation of December.... !
